What are the main components of a lamp and their functions?
Names and functions of lamp parts.
Socket: A threaded screw base used to hold and connect a light bulb to a power source.
Harp: The wire support that attaches to the socket and supports the shade at the top. It is measured to the top of the thread.
Harp saddle: The metal base that attaches the harp to.
Finial: Attaches to the harp tp secure the shade to the neck. Some finials are decorative to match the base of the lamp while others are simple and generic.
Neck: A lamp's neck connects the harp, saddle, and socket to its base. Neck connects socket to the lamp base some lamps do not expose the neck.
UL Label: Verifies that an electrical product has been tested and meets UL standards.
