What is the correct height to hang a pendant over a dining table or kitchen island?

Dining table: Hang the bottom of the pendant 24–36 inches above the tabletop for standard 8-foot ceilings.

Kitchen island: It is generally recommended to hang kitchen island pendants between 24 and 36 inches above the surface and at least 24 inches apart, regardless of their size.
