# What is the correct height to hang a pendant over a dining table or kitchen island?

## Guidelines for ideal pendant light placement over tables and islands.

**Dining table:** Hang the bottom of the pendant **24–36 inches above the tabletop** for standard 8-foot ceilings.

**Tip**: To achieve a cozy feel with a smaller table, consider a dome pendant. This will draw the focus downward while providing an inviting touch to the surface. For a brighter, more dramatic look, opt for a linear-suspension light or chandelier.

**Kitchen island:** It is generally recommended to hang kitchen island pendants between 24 and 36 inches above the surface and at least 24 inches apart, regardless of their size.
