What are the different switch types for table and floor lamps?
Common lamp switch mechanisms and how they work.
On/Off Socket Switch: a turn-knob mechanism that switches a lamp on and off (no dimmer).
On/Off Chain Switch: the socket switch is operated by pulling on a connected chain.
Floor Tap or Push Switch: a typical mechanism found on a floor lamp; a push-button switch that can be operated by tapping it with your foot.
On/Off Line Switch: an on-off rocker switch found on the cord of the light.
