How do I repack a rug for return shipping?
Step-by-step instructions for folding, rolling, and boxing a rug for return.
Repacking a rug for return in a parcel box can be a bit tricky due to the size and bulkiness of the rug. Have the client use the original packaging that it arrived in if possible to ensure the process in returning runs smoothly.
- Lay the rug flat and fold it into thirds lengthwise.
- Fold down the top third of the rug toward the center.
- From the newly folded end, continue to roll the rug.
- Place the rug inside its original packaging and then in the box, making sure it fits snugly. If there is any extra space in the box, you can fill it with packing peanuts or crumpled newspaper to prevent the rug from shifting during transit.
- Once the rug is securely inside the box, seal it with packing tape. Make sure to reinforce all seams and corners to prevent the box from opening during shipping.
- Clearly label the box with the return address and any other necessary shipping information provided.
- Depending on the return process, arrange for the box to be picked up by the shipping carrier or drop it off at a designated location
