How can I get my rug to lay flat?
Tips for flattening rugs using reverse rolling, sunlight, or professional steaming.
One of the easiest ways to deal with a rug that refuses to lay flat, is to reverse roll it along the diagonal. Allow the rug to rest this way for 1-2 days so the fibers unbuckle and relax. Additionally, the reverse rolled rug can be placed outdoors under the sun for a few hours which will help speed up the process. The heat from the sun helps the rug naturally release tension.
Another common resolution is to have the rug steamed; however, this is not applicable to all rugs. The material coupled with construction type can cause varying effects from this method. This should be done by a third-party professional.
